Quick work weekend

I have been working on my cathedral window quilts the last few days.

Here is the latest square for the first quilt.

And a nine piece square for the second quilt.

And a comparison shot so you can see the size difference.
The first one is a nine inch square and the second is a six inch square (for four windows)

I also started my second American Hero Quilt.

I need to put the borders on this and send it out for quilting... It went more quickly than the last one~ and yes I realize that the bottom right corner is turned... oops!

There is embroidery in this corner,

And a baby in this corner!

I still am unable to spread out anything with out someone standing on it!

And while I was making that, the boy was making this!

Totally worth it, though!

June TIF Challenge

The Challenge this month was about the stories that your stash can tell, and teh color scheme was a variety of browns.

I am fairly new to Crazy and sane Quilting, so I don't really have all that much fabric in my stash... The story usually is " I caught her eye while she was shopping for something completely different but she bought some anyway."

The quilt square I made this month is for a larger quilt I am making for my friend Camas. I am tying and binding each square as I finish them and will send a "map" of how they will all fit together so they can be blind stitched together when I finish the last one! Until then, she hangs them up on the wall.

Finished!

Well, almost!
I added another 3" border in the darker blue, but this is the biggest I could still lay it out on the floor to get a picture!
It was sent off for quilting today and might even be back for Jeff's birthday!

Everyone loves the sushi quilt!

Two of the quilts I had out for long arm quilting have returned!
I spent the evening starting to bind the sushi quilt for Aunt Dodo.
I expect to finish it today.

Everyone in this house seems to gravitate to the quilts.
Jimmy curled up on my lap and promptly fell asleep, followed by both cats!

I'm not asleep, I'm concentrating on tiny stitches!

And I haven't forgotten about my cathedral window quilt! This makes a nice break from working on the machine all afternoon!

Quilt finished!

I finally finished this quilt! I started out hand quilting it, but am nowhere near patient enough for that, so I finished it on the machine...

I had trouble getting a good picture of it since as soon as it was laid out on the floor it was cuddled with.

I guess that's the biggest success for a quilt!

I eventually wrestled Jimmy off of it and put it up on the couch over the cat who wouldn't move (see the lump?)

And then after taking only one picture, the quilt was snatched and toddled off with again!

I am glad it is completed, now to finish the compass quilt!

Sylvia's block

The Purple color study round robin block arrived last week.

This one belongs to Sylvia in North Dakota.
See larger images of any of the ones below by clicking on them.

For my patch I added the spider and her web bedecked in "dewdrops"

A seam treatment with trim leaves and beads.

And the other seam treatment with a scroll stitch scallop in perle cotton.

All ready to go to Pam in Australia!

Lots of progress, nothing finished...

I have been sewing away lately...
I made a few more blocks for my cathedral window quilt.

I am adding scraps of the boys clothes into it, just for my own memory keeper.

This one is just for fun with scraps.

I also acquired this started windows quilt from my favorite place to shop.
It came with 18 finished squares, 8 started squares and muslin fabric cut for about 50 more and several hundred windows cut out. It also had the template and pattern with it, thankfully! The squares are smaller than the other ones and folded differently.

I also am making a small quilt for practicing hand quilting for when I start on the vintage quilt...
Well, it started small anyway...
This is the back.

Here is the front. I really didn't take my time piecing this quilt since it was just for practice...
I may submit this as my Take It Further Project for the month since with the exception of the batting, it was made entirely out of my stash...

Addition to traditional pattern...

Bwaa ha haha ha haha!

Recent progress

Lately I have been working on this Mariner's Compass quilt in anticipation of Jeff's promotion.
I finished the compass part of it last night and now will start in on the borders. I am currently trying to contact a couple of long arm quilters to do custom work on it when it is done, but so far, no luck in getting a response...

Here is the compass on the first background.

And when my back was sore from sitting in front of the sewing machine I worked on these tea towels. The were the last in the set if towels I ordered over a year ago...

The bunnies are still in the hoop because I am going to add a bit more to the pattern...

Stat tuned...
